Blue Jays sign J.A. Happ to three-year, $36 million contract

After finding new life on the mound following atrade to the Pirates last season, J.A. Happnow has a big new contract to show for it.The Blue Jays announced Friday nightthat they the left-hander to a three-year, $36 million contract. He compiled a 19-20 mark in 58 starts with Toronto between 2012 and 2014.Happ has a 62-61 record and 4.13 ERA in nine major league seasons, including stints with the Phillies, Astros and Mariners.But Happ looked especially sharp after the Pirates acquired him from the Mariners before the trade deadline in July. In 11 starts with the Bucs, he went 7-2, with a 1.85 ERA and 1.02WHIP.
